Sculptra is a type of filler used in cosmetic injections. It contains poly-L-lactic acid, which stimulates collagen production, rejuvenates the skin and creates a more youthful appearance. In 2004, Sculptra received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat lipoatrophy in people with HIV. Lipoatrophy causes loss of fat in the face, leading to sunken cheeks and the formation of deep wrinkles. In 2014, the FDA approved the use of Sculptra for cosmetic purposes, to treat facial wrinkles and create a more youthful appearance.

The main ingredient of Sculptra is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), which is classified as a collagen production stimulant, has long-lasting effects and helps rejuvenate the skin, results can be maintained for up to 2 years. .

Although Sculptra is considered quite safe and effective, people who are allergic to any of the medication's ingredients or are at risk of scarring should not use it.

How does Sculptra work?
When injected into the skin, the poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) found in Sculptra helps reduce the appearance of wrinkles. PLLA works to stimulate collagen regeneration, thereby gradually restoring fullness to facial wrinkles or fine lines. The result is softer, more youthful skin.

Although you may feel a difference immediately after injection, to see the full skin rejuvenation effect, it may take several months.

The esthetician will advise on the number of treatments required to achieve the best results. Usually, the average treatment regimen includes 3 injections given evenly spaced about 3-4 months apart.
